Dear Ryan,
Happy New Year! Here are some items to look for in this
month's newsletter...
- Two seminars taking place at Saginaw Valley State
University: a "Patents 101" workshop as well as an
informational seminar on how to successfully apply for
federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
grants.
- An intensive, three-part business plan workshop
offered through the Small Business and Technology
Development Center.
- Kudos to Dow Corning on being named one of
FORTUNE magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work
For!
- Oxazogen's $70,000 research grant through the
U.S. Department of Defense.
And, of course, don't forget about the 50 Companies to
Watch! Midland Tomorrow assisted six nominees with their
applications for the 2007 competition. The winners will be
announced later this month... we'll let you know as soon as we
hear the results!

SBIR
Intensive Training at SVSU February 1 |
|
Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants from the
Department of Labor's Small Business Administration are often
crucial to building an investment portfolio for entrepreneurs
creating small businesses in technology sectors. Many of the
winning applications for the 21st Century Jobs Fund grants had
already focused their energies and efforts on making a
successful bid for an SBIR grant. The Center for
Entrepreneurship and Commercialization at Saginaw Valley State
University (SVSU-CEC) is pleased to offer an intensive
workshop on the SBIR application process. |

"Patents
101" Workshop at SVSU January 23/24 |
|
If you work in an environment where you must constantly
innovate, if you seek to try new things, if you create new
processes or systems, you might have been creating
intellectual property (IP). In the knowledge economy of the
21st century, you need to know what IP is, how you can protect
it, and how to use it to create viable economic enterprises.
The Center for Entrepreneurship and Commercialization at
Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU CBED) is pleased to
offer a "Patents 101" Workshop to address these issues.
