Forbes: Midland Fourth-Best Area in USA to Raise a Family

Forbes Magazine has ranked the Midland the fourth-best area in the entire United States to raise a family. Their survey looks past the large cities in America to pinpoint areas with a population under 100,000 that combine a variety of factors into a family-friendly environment.
According to Forbes, rankings were based on quality-of-life measures that make living easier for families. Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the ranking team isolated all Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas with a population under 100,000. This resulted in a list of 126 U.S. cities that they ranked on five measures: short commute times, percentage of adults (age 25 and up) with at least a high school degree, median household income, home ownership rates, and housing affordability. The team averaged rankings across those measures to arrive at final scores.
