Midland Tomorrow Seeks Chemical Industry Executive
for Full-Time Economic Development Manager Position

Midland Tomorrow is seeking a full-time chemical industry executive for our economic development manager position. Responsibilities include attraction and retention of companies in Midland. The successful candidate will seek to attract national and international chemical industry companies to Midland, Michigan, through participation in trade shows and trade missions and other marketing activities designed to generate leads and prospects. International travel may be required. Additionally, the candidate will work directly with existing client companies to develop new business in Midland.
Background Requirements
- Extensive chemical industry knowledge and experience with Midland-based firms
- Demonstrated sales and business development success
- Pre-existing high level industry contacts, including active membership in chemical industry associations
- Experience in cold calling, lead generation, and marketing analysis
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal day-to-day direction
- A passion for Midland and the Great Lakes Bay Region and a desire to see the community succeed
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide business strategy counseling, problem solving, new business development support, and expansion assistance to Midland County companies. This includes providing support for the use of financing and workforce development programs and incentives.
- Act as an advocate, when appropriate, on behalf of business clients, by representing them in community actions that directly affect their business activity.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical-related field or business administration
- Ten (10) years' experience in the chemical industry
- Must maintain appropriate legal documents required for international travel
