The fifth annual Midland Tomorrow Awards Breakfast, held in Midland, MI on October 15, 2007, was a rousing success. Held at the Valley Plaza Resort, the event drew a record crowd of almost 350 local and regional leaders of businesses, educational institutions, foundations and nonprofit organizations. Nine local businesses and individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions to Midland's economic development and quality of life - and for the exciting new ways their innovation and entrepreneurial spirit is moving Midland, and the region, into the future.
Presenters Cal Ieuter, Dave Dunn, Joan Herbert and Jon Lynch moved through the program and introduced each award winner seamlessly. Terence F. Moore, President and CEO of MidMichigan Health, provided a dynamic keynote address exploring the tremendous growth that MidMichigan Health (which is headquartered in Midland) has had in the area, and how locating in this region has been a key factor in their success. A streaming Flash video of different sections of the event, as well as a PDF version of the event presentation, will be available shortly.
This was a record-breaking year for event sponsorship. Many thanks go to the thirty local sponsors of the 2007 Awards Breakfast (listed at right). Without them, this event could not happen. We would also like to give a special thanks to our Midland Tomorrow investors, whose support now and throughout the year makes it possible for us to achieve our mission of helping industrial and technology businesses create and retain quality jobs. And, of course, thanks go to all our clients, investors and friends for your continuing support of our activities. You are the reason Midland's present and future are so bright.
Established in 2003 to honor businesses, organizations and individuals that have made significant contributions to Midland's economic development and quality of life, the Midland Tomorrow Awards are given to businesses that have demonstrated significant financial and/or physical expansion of their operations and investment in the community, that have taken significant efforts to partner with other Midland organizations and individuals on shared ventures to develop our economy, or that have devoted their resources to developing new and exciting products and services in their fields.
