The Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) recently recognized several of the state's most outstanding manufacturing leaders and advocates with the 2008 John G. Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Award.Stephanie A. Burns, Dow Corning Corporation chairman, president and CEO, was named the overall winner in the "Large Tier" category. “Large Tier” describes companies with more than 500 employees.
“The state of Michigan is home to some of the most innovative and successful manufacturing organizations in the world,” said Burns. “To be recognized by our peers in the state is a distinct honor, and reflects the impact Dow Corning and our employees have in our communities and in the state of Michigan.”
The award is presented each year to individuals who have made a significant contribution to their communities through job creation, exceptional support of philanthropic organizations, effective advocacy on behalf of the manufacturing sector and other accomplishments. Honorees are selected by a panel of judges representing industry, business development groups, universities, associations and other organizations.
The awards were presented during a luncheon at MMA's third annual CEO Forum at the Henry Center for Executive Development in Lansing on May 13.
