You Can Find It in Midland
Downtown Midland received a M

ichigan Main Street designation in 2005, one of only four communities in the state to receive the recognition that year. The Main Street program, part of Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's Cool Cities Initiative, resulted in an increased focus on developing a long-term, sustainable business district and enhancing the downtown's economic position. Community leaders continue to look at ways to make the downtown area an exciting multi-use destination for housing, business offices, shops, restaurants, and entertainment.
Located in the heart of Midland, the
Center City District is a shopping locale fully developed with a mixture of retail, restaurant, and other service sector businesses, as well as some multi-family housing. The area also contains the historic Ashman Circle, which is home to numerous shops and boutiques.
Midland is also home to a regional shopping mall, constructed in 1991 and located on Eastman Avenue just north of US-10. The
Midland Mall features four anchor stores complemented by more than 60 specialty and name-brand shops. Many retail stores, hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities have located in the mall area, helping to bring a full range of shopping, dining and leisure opportunities to area residents and visitors.
