Scott Walker, CEcD
Chief Executive Officer

Scott became Midland Tomorrow’s executive director in 2006 and immediately sought to further substantial and lasting economic growth in Midland. He has overseen a 50 percent increase in the organization’s budget and expanded their strategic plan to research and target expanding chemical and technology businesses, while transforming the organization’s traditional economic development model into a proactive Economic Gardening program focused on second-stage company support.

Scott is active on the Board of Directors of the Prima Civitas Foundation and has served as the chair of the Mid-Michigan federal WIRED grant, covering 13 counties in this region of Michigan. Scott is also active in the Great Lakes Bay Alliance and is an active and founding member of the Great Lakes Bay Economic Development Partnership. In addition, Scott serves on the Board of Directors of the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce, the Midland Noon Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus, the local Brownfield Redevelopment Financing Authority, the Arnold Center Board of Directors, and other statewide and community organizations.

Scott has an MBA from Michigan State University with honors, a BS MSE from Kettering University, and is a 6 Sigma certified Black Belt. In 2010, Scott received the Certified Economic Developer designation (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council.

Prior to joining Midland Tomorrow in 2004, Scott spent 15 years in engineering and sales roles in the manufacturing industry.


Carol Miller
Economic Development Manager/Senior Chemical Industry Manager

Carol joined Midland Tomorrow in September 2010. She is the leader of Midland Tomorrow's chemical industry attraction initiative, building and leveraging relationships with chemical industry clients from around the world to help attract their jobs and investment to the Midland area. In addition, she maintains extensive contact with Midland’s chemical and technology manufacturers, carrying on Midland Tomorrow’s established practice of meeting proactively with these companies to help them develop new products, new customers and new markets. Prior to this position, Carol spent almost 25 years in various business units of The Dow Chemical Company, where she developed expertise in global business management and strategy development, asset optimization, and strategic negotiation.

Becky Church
Office Manager/Event Coordinator

Becky began her position in June of 2003. Her responsibilities includeoffice management and accounting for five different groups underMidland Tomorrow’s nonprofit status. Becky also handles event planningfor a wide range of functions including Midland Tomorrow's annualAwards Program that attracts an audience of over 300 community leaders,as well as Midland Tomorrow's fund development campaign, variouspartner programs with Michigan State University and other educationalinstitutions, and legislative affairs. Prior to this position, Beckyworked for Central Michigan University, her alma mater.

Ryan Richards
Marketing Manager

Ryan began his current position in April of 2005. He is responsible for Midland Tomorrow’s marketing and communications efforts, including local and national advertising, annual and quarterly reports, presentations for community interest groups, and other public relations material, as well as earned media opportunities. He also gives marketing support to the CEO and the Economic Development Manager to help attract targeted national businesses in the chemical and technology industries. Ryan is a 2004 graduate of Alma College with a B.A. degree in English.


Cliff Miles
Community Development Manager (consultant)
Cliff began his current position in 1992. Prior to that he served infour Michigan cities as City Manager: Midland, Adrian, Three Rivers andGaylord. Cliff has also served as Engineer in the City of Ann ArborWater Department. He earned a B.S.E. in Civil Engineering from theUniversity of Michigan. Current community activities include serving onthe Boards of Midland County Council on Aging, Midland Area CommunityFoundation and the Tri-County Economics Club.
